Who is EduFood?
EduFood is the short name for our company, EduFood Training & Services Sdn. Bhd. (formerly EduFood Training & Consultancy). We started operating under the name EduFood in 2019, and we offer various training services related to the food industry. The main service we offer is Food Handler Training, and the founder of EduFood has been a KKM-recognized trainer for this training since 2014. To date, more than 100,000 participants have received EduFood Food Handler Training certificates.
Is EduFood certified by KKM?
Yes, only a Food Handler Training School (SLPM) certified by the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) may conduct Food Handler Training, and EduFood is one of the SLPMs certified by KKM. EduFood’s SLPM certificate number is SL0220117-4/1, and the certification can be viewed in KKM’s FoSIM system.
What is Food Handler Training?
Food Handler Training provides basic food hygiene and food safety training in food handling activities for sales or commercial purposes. The following are the Food Handler Training modules:

Who needs to attend Food Handler Training?
This training is mandatory for every Food Handler according to the Food Hygiene Regulation (PPKM) 2009. Under the Food Hygiene Regulation (PPKM) 2009, a Food Handler includes any individual who:
(a) Is directly involved in food preparation;
(b) Touches food or surfaces that come into contact with food; and
(c) Handles packaged or unpackaged food, or utensils, in any Food Premise.
In short, a Food Handler is an individual who is directly involved in food preparation and food handling activities for sales purposes, such as cooks, kitchen assistants, restaurant servers, food traders, and others. This training is also mandatory for individuals who run a home-based business involving the activities above.
Is Food Handler Training open to everyone?
Yes, this training may be joined by anyone, regardless of whether they are Malaysian citizens or non-Malaysian citizens. Even those who do not intend to work as a Food Handler may join this training. There is also no age limit, as long as the participant can fully understand the matters presented during the training.
What can happen if a Food Handler does not attend Food Handler Training?
It is an offence under the law if there is a Food Handler at a Food Premise who has not attended this mandatory training. An individual found guilty may be fined up to RM10,000, imprisoned for not more than 2 years, or both. The food premise may also be ordered to close and may only resume operations after all Food Handlers have obtained a Food Handler Certificate.
Are there any other obligations besides attending Food Handler Training?
Yes, Food Handlers are also required to obtain the Anti-Typhoid vaccine every 3 years. This is to prevent infection from typhoid fever or typhoid caused by the Salmonella typhi bacteria. This disease is highly contagious and can cause death, so it is very important for every Food Handler to take this matter seriously. Please contact a nearby clinic to obtain the vaccination.
How long is the duration of Food Handler Training?
According to KKM requirements, participants must attend the training for at least 3 hours, receive all training modules, and answer all quizzes given during the training. For our online classes, if a participant enters the class late and cannot fulfill this requirement, the participant may be removed from the class and no certificate will be issued to that participant. The training duration we conduct is 3.5 hours in total to allow time for attendance-taking at the beginning of the training and a break period in the middle of the training.
Is there a certificate after attending Food Handler Training?
Yes, a KKM-recognized Food Handler Certificate will be issued as proof of attendance for this training. This certificate is also recognized by Local Authorities (PBT) such as Municipal Councils and City Halls.
We will issue the PDF certificate within 12 hours after completion of the training, and the physical certificate will also be sent to the delivery address that we received.
The PDF certificate will only be given to the Person In Charge (PIC), which is the individual who registered the participants for the training.
How long is the validity period of the Food Handler Certificate?
The Food Handler Certificate is valid for life and is also valid at any Food Premise.
What is the charge for Food Handler Training by EduFood, and is it HRDC-Claimable?
For public online classes as shown in the Class Schedule below, the training charge is RM50 per person, including certification and delivery of the physical certificate using mail postage (Poslaju delivery is also available with an additional charge).
The public online classes we offer are not HRDC-Claimable because the training duration is less than 4 hours. We only offer HRDC-Claimable training for private classes, please contact us for further information.
What are the advantages of Online Food Handler Training by EduFood?

- The physical certificate is laminated to ensure that the certificate is long-lasting, durable, and easy to clean if it gets dirty.
- We offer a service to make a new certificate copy if you lose your certificate.
- It is easy to verify the validity of the certificate at edufood.com/verify.
- Free postal delivery is provided. Poslaju is also offered with an additional charge. For registration of 4+ participants in a single order, Poslaju delivery is free.
What are the requirements for Online Food Handler Training?
We conduct the training live through Zoom. Participants must have a device that can use the Zoom app and has a front camera, such as a smartphone or laptop. The device used to enter the class cannot be shared, each participant must have one device for Zoom. Participants must also have a phone number with WhatsApp because information related to the training will be given through WhatsApp.
We offer this training in Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Chinese (Mandarin). Participants must understand the language used in the training, and please prepare a translator if the participant has limited understanding or does not understand (translators are not allowed for classes in Chinese). Participants will be removed from the class if they cannot understand the training material.
For training registration, we will need some information related to the participant as well as the address for delivery of the physical certificate. We do not require any documents for registration purposes.
What are the guidelines for Online Food Handler Training?
KKM has set several rules for online training to ensure that participants pay full attention during the training. Among them, participants must always show their face through the camera throughout the training. If a participant does not follow the guidelines, the participant may be removed from the online class and no certificate will be issued to that participant. The list of guidelines if you attend the Online Food Handler Training organized by EduFood is as below.
- Enter the class at the training start time.
- Remain in the class throughout the training duration.
- 1 camera/device, 1 participant.
- Turn on the camera throughout the training.
- Prepare a charger/power bank.
- Use of a headset is encouraged.
- Sit in a quiet place with a good internet connection.
- Pay full attention during the training and do not do other activities.
- Follow instructions given during the training.
How do I make payment and register for Online Food Handler Training by EduFood?
The following are the steps to make payment and register for Online Food Handler Training on the EduFood website:
- Select a class in the Class Schedule below and then click/tap register. You may also select more than one slot and/or class, please refer to the guide in the Class Schedule section below.
- Fill in the Payment Form on the next page. The available payment methods are Online Banking FPX (B2C & B2B), eWallet, Card, DuitNow QR, & Bank Transfer.
- Make payment using the selected payment method. You will receive an invoice and be taken to the Registration Form page after payment is confirmed.
- Fill in the Registration Form to provide participant information and the delivery address for the physical certificate.
- Enter the WhatsApp group for the class. Training preparation information is provided in the group.
